Vice President, Business Development  ( Small Business )

Reporting to our Chief Growth Officer, the VP of Business Development, Small Business is responsible for driving both revenue generation and business expansion in existing and emerging markets with a focus on Chinese small business accounts in hospitality, retail, wholesale and such industries.  As a member of the senior executive team, the VP will be responsible for contributing to the company’s overall sales strategy while driving top line revenue growth while mentoring and managing existing account managers and the small business sales team. 


  • Support the CEO through the CGO in refining the roadmap for the business - including an ongoing assessment of the company's existing market opportunities, competitive positioning and growth opportunities going forward

  • Generate new and qualified leads - leveraging your own network as well as selecting new market segments – and identify key executive contacts and understand their business profile, industry trends, and objectives, and be able to position our offerings accordingly

  • Lead, manage and develop the Chinese business account management team; create a sales team culture that is positive, motivating and performance-driven

  • Conduct meetings at the C-Level

  • Lead, drive and support the business development organization related to value-added services in attaining revenue and margin goals by market and geography

  • Spearhead the strategic planning and execution of all sales, marketing, and public relations activities

  • Develop targeted sales strategy and plans, directed to specific geographic markets, to offer product and services to each of those markets

  • Plan approaches and pitches and develop proposals that speak to the client’s needs, concerns, and objectives

  • Play a lead role in developing high level relationships with key accounts and partners

  • Manage relationships with key accounts and partners to formulate account development plans

  • Prepare a comprehensive sales execution plan that will define key metrics and operating measures to establish sales performance criteria for this position

  • Identify and develop new business opportunities that helps diversify our offerings including forging new initiatives and partnerships around referrals and reselling

Qualifications and Experience  

  • A minimum of 5 years of senior B2B business development, sales leadership success

  • Must thoroughly understand the payment industry; knowledge of Alipay/Wechat Pay/Union Pay an asset

  • Proficiency in Mandarin

  • A proven track record in marketing and sales of services, as opposed to physical products

  • Proven track record sales team management – motivating and mentoring account managers and developing a customer and team centric approach to achieving and over-achieving goals

  • Strategic and inquisitive mindset with a drive and passion to grow a “new” business in Canada

  • Self-motivated; able to produce results within tight timeframes
